I need to be prepared to ask questions to the citizens of Iceland about green policies when opportunities arise and to find opportunities to view and visit any green energy operations while traveling.
I will have to map out our free time to make sure I am experiencing some of Iceland’s lighthouses to discover their history so students can compare and contrast lighthouses we have studied reflective of the state we live in with the lighthouses in Iceland. Video clips may be taken during a tour of a […]
I will photograph and sketch some of the flora to embed in a student template.
I will research in advance and speak to locals about their surface culture – food, music, art, holidays, and other traditions. Since we will be in Iceland on July 4th, this will be an easy way to share something about American history/ culture while asking locals to discuss unique qualities of Icelandic culture (is everyone […]
I will ask the tour manager for some fun Icelandic words, while also asking some questions of other languages that are related to Icelandic
I will observe the attitudes of people in Iceland and how they practice peace. I will observe how people practice safety too. Also, I will take pictures and notes of our tour in order to develop a learning running trail that will involve learning on the trail about the geography and science behind the geography […]
I will photograph ecological features that I think could be useful in sharing these ideas with my students. I will talk with any experts or people living in these regions about their experiences with the Icelandic habitats. I will research the history and ecology of these features on some of my free nights.
Take photos of sites visited and make notes to bring back to the classroom.
I know that Icelanders are avid readers and book-buyers, especially around the holidays, and would like to opportunity to speak to booksellers and/or teachers about the importance and joy of the written word in their country. I would love to have some bits of wisdom and motivation to share with my students about how reading […]
I will tour one of the local harbors and ask locals how they use their ocean resources. I will take plenty of pictures for the students to explore and research while making comparisons to our own coastal area.
I need to journal and take pictures of different animals I see in Iceland
I will document, through photos, a journal and hopefully through talking to local experts, evidence of volcanic activity and how the volcanic activity influences the energy usage in Iceland. I hope to be able to learn about how the moving plates that comprise Iceland has an impact of culture and the economy.
I will take many pictures to share with my students and I will take notes of things I see and learn during my trip. I may visit other museums to increase my knowledge while on the trip as well.
I will need to seek out recordings while I am abroad, seeing a concert or hearing music live would be ideal. Considering the short amount of time, I’m not sure what I can find, but recordings or written out tunes are also great because I can bring them home with me.
Collect information, articles, books, pictures of geographical features, make notes for further research.
I will visit the Icelandic horses at one of the stables and spend time learning about the horses.
Ask questions! Take photos of geothermal sources — generating plants, geysers, hot springs, heating systems, etc.
I will need to purchase or collect a variety of maps of Iceland, as well as take detailed notes about which photographs match each location.
