Overview
This week-long program departs from Las Vegas and visits three national parks across the American Southwest. You'll hike among the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon, view Zion's towering Navajo sandstone formations from the canyon floor, and take in the scale of the Grand Canyon. The route also includes a Navajo-guided jeep tour through Monument Valley and a stop at Horseshoe Bend. Enjoy an efficient, immersive introduction to the region's landscapes and Indigenous heritage, all while earning professional development credit with other educators.

Unlike most GEEO programs, Day 1 is a travel day for this program; while the adventure begins in Las Vegas, the group will not be staying there overnight. The program begins with a welcome meeting at 1 p.m. at the Claim Jumper restaurant in the Golden Nugget hotel. Please eat lunch before this meeting, and if you are arriving in Las Vegas today, make sure your flight arrives by 11:00 a.m. at the latest. The nearest airport is Harry Reid International Airport (LAS).
After our meeting, the group will depart for our hotel near Zion National Park. After getting settled into our hotel, you can opt to explore the area a bit or enjoy dinner at your leisure.
Consider arriving 1–2 days early to explore the city, adjust to any time zone change, and buffer against flight delays. We can request up to one pre-trip hotel night for you; any additional nights will need to be arranged directly with the Golden Nugget or a different hotel of your choice.

Approximate travel time: 2.5 hrs total by private vehicle
It’s all about Zion today as you get a chance to wander this beautiful national park in Southwest Utah. Take the shuttle into the park and spend the day exploring and hiking with your fellow travelers. Admire monumental sandstone cliffs of cream, pink, and red that tower into the sky. Experience diverse plant and animal life, and wade through water in a narrow slot canyon as the park transitions from desert to forest. Gaze at the awe-inspiring beauty of the high plateaus, striking towers, temples, mesas, and the earth’s tallest-known sheer sandstone walls.
The hike most travelers opt for is the Narrows. Another option is Angels Landing, which is not included in this itinerary, but is available to be done independently. If you’re interested in continuing to the top, you must apply ahead of time for a permit via the National Park’s lottery system at this website: https://www.nps.gov/zion/planyourvisit/angels-landing-hiking-permits.htm.
Remember, it is up to you whether to participate in the hikes throughout our program. For hikes like the Narrows, you can also choose to turn around early.
In the evening, relax at your hotel as you reflect on your day in this wonderful piece of paradise.

We will depart Zion in the morning and travel to Bryce Canyon National Park. The group will enjoy an included lunch along the way. Once in the park, you will have free time to hike through the wild and weird rock formations fondly known as hoodoos. Opt to hike the Queen’s Garden and Navajo loop trails or take in the incredible view with a walk along the rim.
We’ll head back to the park after dinner for sunset. At night, look up and see the magic of the stars in a place designated an International Dark Sky Park.

This morning we will leave Utah and cross the border into Arizona. We will drive to a town called Page, which is the gateway to the famous Antelope Canyon and Horseshoe Bend. Here, travelers can choose to join a local Navajo guide and explore Antelope Canyon on an optional tour. This stunning natural sandstone slot canyon is located on tribal lands and once inside, you can admire the blue sky above from the bottom of the canyon.
Afterward, visit Horseshoe Bend for a short hike to stand atop the steep cliffs overlooking the natural bend in the Colorado River.
We will then drive to Monument Valley, where you will have time to relax and unwind after a busy day of sightseeing.

This morning you’ll be treated to a sunrise Navajo-guided jeep tour of Monument Valley. See magnificent colors, miles of mesas, buttes, and pinnacles that make Monument Valley a truly wondrous experience.
We’ll then head toward the Grand Canyon, with a stop for lunch en route at Cameron Trading Post. Located in the Navajo Nation and over a century old, the Cameron Trading Post was originally a place where Navajo and Hopi people met for bartering goods.
Later, arrive at the awe-inspiring Grand Canyon just in time for a spectacular sunset. Point your camera in any direction and capture memorable shots as the shifting light plays off the layers of red, yellow, and brown rock. This is truly one of the great wonders. Enjoy the moment.

Marvel at the out-of-this-world views as you get up close and personal with the Grand Canyon today. Spend a full day exploring and hiking from the South Rim. There are a variety of hikes to choose from that will take you deeper into the canyon, where you can really appreciate the size and depth of this national park. Choose whichever trail you wish or do short bursts of multiple hikes; just make sure you bring plenty of water and take your time.
If you wish to see this natural wonder from a bird’s eye view with an experience you’ll never forget, opt to book the Grand Canyon helicopter tour.
Say farewell to Grand Canyon NP and travel back to Las Vegas along the famous Route 66. Your flight home must depart no earlier than 5 p.m.

Trip Notes & Expectations
ACCOMMODATION
Our program fees are based on double-occupancy accommodation (see “Single Travelers” below if you do not have a travel companion and would be interested in a private room). Our accommodations are selected for safety, cleanliness, and convenient locations. While they are comfortable and well-suited for group travel, they are generally simple rather than luxury properties in order to keep the program affordable. Please be aware that properties we stay in with only two stories may not have elevators installed and climbing the stairs with your luggage will be necessary.
PARK ENTRANCE FEES
Standard entrance fees to the National Parks visited on this trip are included in your trip price. In January 2026, the US National Park Service introduced an additional ‘US Non-Resident Fee’ to enter National Parks included in this trip. This fee is applicable to passengers who are not US residents and separate to the entrance fees included in your tour. These fees range from USD 100 to USD 250 per person. These fees need to be paid locally (USD cash) and are in addition to your trip payment. On Day 1, your tour leader will facilitate the processing of these fees for all travelers who are impacted.
TRANSPORTATION
We use a mix of transportation that gets our guests from location to location safely. Sometimes you will have full days and/or nights of transportation as our trips tend to cover a lot of ground. Transportation will often be an adventure in itself.
LUGGAGE
You must be able to easily carry or roll your luggage, so do not over-pack. The carrying of your luggage remains your responsibility at all times.
ACTIVITY LEVEL & PACE
This trip includes plenty of opportunities for walking and hiking, but it is also possible to opt out of activities that you feel would be too physically difficult. Keep hydrated and know your limits! Your tour leader will set a meeting place and time so that you can hike as much as you want, from a little to a lot. We recommend always carrying snacks with you. Meals can sometimes be far apart.
GROUP LEADER
All GEEO programs are led by a G Adventures Chief Experience Officer (CEO), whose role is to take the hassle out of travel and help you get the most from your trip. They’ll share information about the places you visit, suggest activities and restaurants, and introduce you to our local friends. While not traditional guides, CEOs have broad knowledge of the region’s history, culture, and daily life. On some excursions, local guides are used for deeper insight.
Single Travelers
Traveling solo? You’re in good company—about half of our participants do the same.
Shared room by default. The program fee covers one person in a twin room. We’ll pair you with a roommate of the same gender if you don’t have a travel companion.
Want a private room? Most trips offer a “My Own Room” (single-supplement) upgrade. Check the price in the Extra Services section, then email travel@geeo.org to reserve it. You pay the single-supplement only if you request it.

Packing List
See our blog post of staff-recommended gear to help you pack for your upcoming travels. You must be able to carry your own luggage—up stairs, on and off of transport, and during 15 to 20 minute walks. Bring one small or medium backpack or rolling bag (22-30lb) and one daypack for daily items. Space is limited on transportation, so oversized bags cannot travel.
As you prepare your packing list, we recommend checking average weather conditions for your destination.

Passports and Visas
Travelers are responsible for securing all required travel documents and meeting the entry requirements for every country on their itinerary, including applicable transit/layover countries.
PASSPORT
American travelers need either a valid passport or a REAL ID driver’s license to fly to Las Vegas. Need to apply or renew? Start here. Non-American travelers will need to look up requirements for their nationality.
Money Exchange
Currency: The local currency in the United States is the US Dollar (USD). For current exchange rates, visit www.xe.com.
Credit/Debit Cards: Credit cards (especially Visa and Mastercard) are accepted nearly everywhere.
Cash: For small purchases, tipping, or places that don’t take cards, we recommend using ATMs to withdraw local currency while traveling.
Emergency Funds: Bring at least $200 USD (or the equivalent in local currency) in cash for emergencies in case of ATM or card issues. Always carry more rather than less to avoid feeling short of funds while traveling.

Tipping
It is customary in North America to tip service providers such as waiters, bartenders and taxi drivers, at approximately 18-20%, depending on the service. Tipping is an expected – though not compulsory – component of your tour program and an expression of satisfaction with the persons who have assisted you on your tour. Although it may not be customary to you, it is of considerable significance to the people who will take care of you during your travels. There are times during the trip where there is opportunity to tip any local guides used. Recommendations for tipping local guides would range from $2-8 USD per activity depending on the quality and length of the service; ask your CEO for specific recommendations based on the circumstances and culture.
Also at the end of each trip if you felt your G Adventures Chief Experience Officer did an outstanding job, tipping is appreciated. The amount is entirely a personal preference; however as a guideline $10-15 USD per person, per day can be used as a guide. If your CEO(s) exceeded your expectations, feel free to tip more.
Flights
Wait for official trip confirmation via email from GEEO before booking your flights. Prices tend to be lowest 90–120 days out, but that window varies by route and year. Neither GEEO nor G Adventures bears responsibility for any flights purchased before the trip is confirmed.
This program begins and ends in Las Vegas. Check the itinerary for the required arrival date. Aim to arrive no later than 11 AM so you can make it to the 1 p.m. Day-1 welcome meeting on time, and consider arriving a day or two early to buffer for flight delays and see more of Las Vegas. You can depart on the final day of the program after 5 PM.
Plugs and Converters
The United States uses US-style Type A and B plugs, and the voltage is 120V.

The Narrows Hike:
Known as one of Utah’s best slot canyon hikes, The Narrows takes you through towering canyon walls along the Virgin River (and yes, this means walking in water!). Enjoy some of the park’s best scenery, stop to take photos, and don’t forget to watch your footing. Opt to make your way back at any point.
Hiking distance: 6.4km (4 mi) Elevation change: 102m (334 ft).

Queen's Garden and Navajo Loop Hike:
Trek through the most popular trail in Bryce Canyon to see its famous hoodoos – tall, thin spires of rock that seem to magically balance upon their dusty, red rock base. Begin your hike at Sunrise Point and make your way toward Queen Victoria, the trail’s namesake rock formation. Continue through the amphitheater on Navajo Loop past Wall Street or Thor’s Hammer, depending on trail conditions. Exit at Sunset Point before walking the Rim Trail back to our starting point. Soak in the views one last time – you’ll want to take it all in.
Hiking distance: 4.6km (2.9 mi) Elevation change: 183m (600 ft).

Antelope Canyon Tour:105 USD
Upper Antelope is famous for the beams of light that shines into the canyon during the summer months. This canyon is very photogenic thru out the day all year around. Tour #1 Upper Antelope Canyon Come with your guide to a spectacular petrified sand dune, created by wind, water and sand, presenting a sculptured masterpiece. Nothing can describe this work of Mother Nature. Experiencing this beauty will leave you breathless. Trips are approximately 1 1/2 hours long and you will travel in comfort in a 4-wheel drive vehicle to the Canyon entrance. From there, you walk into the Canyon , you will be at the bottom of the Canyon looking up 130 feet to the top. There is no hiking or climbing involved, only easy walking on the Canyon floor which is level for the most part. You will have up to 50 minutes to explore, photograph or enjoy the beauty. Then, you will return to the vehicle and return to Page.

Bright Angel Trail Hike:
The hike to Indian Garden is 7km (4.5 mi) one-way and Plateau Point is an additional 2.5km (1.5 mi) one-way. Despite the power of positive thinking, it’s practically impossible to hike to the river, so just don’t give it a try, okay?
This is a difficult hike due to elevation, sun, and heat. Use caution, hikes beyond Indian Garden are not recommended in the summer. Remember: it is always possible to turn back.
