Arrive at any time. There are no planned activities until the Welcome Meeting in the evening. The nearest airport is Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS), also known as Denpasar International Airport. Consider arriving 1-2 days early to explore the city, adjust to the time zone, and buffer against flight delays. We can book extra hotel nights for you before the trip in Seminyak. Hotel Check-in and Welcome Meeting Hotel check-in is normally between 2-3pm. Check with reception for the exact time and location of the group welcome meeting, typically between 6-7pm. Please make every effort to attend this meeting. If you're running late, send a message in the group WhatsApp or call the emergency number on your trip voucher so your tour leader can let you know where and when to meet the group. After the meeting, you might choose to get dinner at a nearby restaurant with your traveling companions and your tour leader to further get to know one another.

      • Joining Instructions

      • Taxi: Fixed-rate taxis are available at the official taxi stand outside the terminal. Prices are posted on the wall and payable in Rupiah or USD. Book and pay at the counter, receive a voucher, then they'll direct you to your taxi. The drive to Seminyak takes about 18 minutes (longer in heavy traffic).
      • Pre-booked Transfer: If you've arranged an airport transfer, look for your driver holding a G Adventures sign in the meeting area, approximately 50 yards from the exit after baggage claim. Can't find your driver? Call the emergency number on your trip voucher, or take a taxi to the hotel (and let us know).
Accommodation: Puri Saron Hotel Seminyak (or similar) * For the actual hotel your specific departure will be using, please check your voucher.

Start the day off with a ride to the UNESCO-protected Jatiluwih Rice Terraces. These dazzling green terraces are one of Bali's treasures, so get ready for a bit of trekking and don't forget the camera! From there, we'll continue on to the Baturiti Fruit market for a stroll through some of the best smelling stalls you'll encounter-grab a dragon fruits or rambutan. After that, we'll wind our way to the Ulun Danu Temple Complex. This floating temple founded by the King of Mengwi in the 17th century is one of Bali’s most important (and stunning!). Take the scenic route to Munduk with one final pit stop at the Twin Lake photo spot. That evening, we'll end up at our guesthouse in Munduk and enjoy a local Balinese dinner as a group. Approximate travel time: 3.5 to 4.5 by private vehicle Accommodation: Meme Surung Guesthouse Meals included: Breakfast | Dinner

Start the day with a dip in the mineral-rich waters of Banjar Hot Springs — a centuries-old bathing spot tucked in Bali’s lush hills. From there, we'll all head to the bustling Pasar Anyar market in Singaraja where you can test out those haggling skills in vibrant stalls packed with colorful produce and handmade goods.

That afternoon, explore the intricately carved, 15th century Beji Temple, one of Bali’s oldest, filled with mythical stone figures and Hindu-inspired designs. To round out the day, we'll wind up at our homestay in Bulian, where we can meet the hosts before a guided village tour. This is a community run guesthouse, managed by a dedicated woman of the village. She's created an employment opportunity for other women and vulnerable youth of the community, with the hope of preserving their culture and preventing rural urban migration. Learn all about Bulian’s rich history and even participate in a traditional Balinese offering-making workshop.

Or spend the morning crafting traditional Balinese offerings at the Widya Guna Foundation, and then visit some of Bali’s holiest sites, including the ancient royal tombs of Gunung Kawi and the purifying waters of Tirta Empul.

For a more hands-on cultural immersion, head to Laplapan Village for a cooking class. Learn to prepare classics like chicken satay, banana-leaf grilled fish, or fried noodles at your own cooking station, then enjoy the feast you've created. Or travel to Medahan Village to walk among rice paddies, meet local families, visit temples and markets, and share tea and Balinese cakes before sitting down to a homemade lunch.

Next up: Pink Beach. With its cotton-candy colored sand and crystal-clear water, it’s the perfect place to snorkel among vibrant reefs or just relax in paradise. From there, we’ll cruise to the dreamy sandbar of Taka Makassar, where shallow turquoise waters invite you to float, swim, and sunbathe.

Feeling adventurous? Jump in at Manta Point and keep your eyes peeled for graceful manta rays gliding beneath you—an exhilarating experience, whether you're a first-time snorkeler or a seasoned swimmer. We’ll round out the day at Kanawa Island, a peaceful slice of tropical heaven ideal for more snorkeling or a laid-back beach nap.

Please note: The order of today’s activities may shift depending on weather and tides—but no matter what, today will be packed with beauty, wildlife, and adventure.

Guided by a local expert, we’ll trek across the island and learn about these fascinating—and fearsome—creatures. After that, we'll hop over to Menjerite Island to snorkel among colorful coral and tropical fish before we unwind at Kelor Island, where you can head out on a short scenic hike or just kick back on the sand, swim in the crystal-clear water, and soak up the sun.

By evening, we return to Labuan Bajo—salty, sun-kissed, and totally satisfied.

Accommodation: Puri Sari Beach Hotel (or similar)

After two unforgettable days exploring by land and sea, today is yours to enjoy exactly how you’d like. Venture inland to Cunca Wulang Waterfall, and hike through lush forest, rice paddies, and tropical plantations before arriving at a jungle canyon and cascading falls. Afterward, check out Batu Cermin Cave, filled with ancient limestone formations and a unique underground world. Prefer to stay seaside? Lounge on the beach, explore the harbor town, or grab your snorkel and hit the water again. If you’re still up for some magic, this evening brings the chance to hop on a sunset cruise to Kalong Island, where thousands of flying foxes take to the skies at dusk in an awe-inspiring natural show. It’s the perfect way to close out your final full day in Komodo. Accommodation: Puri Sari Beach Hotel (or similar) Meals included: Breakfast

There are no planned activities today, so you may depart Labuan Bajo at any time. If you wish to extend your stay in Sanur, consider booking post-tour accommodation with us. *Itinerary Disclaimer: While it is our intention to adhere to the routes described on our website, there is a certain amount of flexibility built into the itinerary and on occasion it may be necessary, or desirable, to make alterations. The itinerary is brief, as we never know exactly where our journey will take us. Due to our style of travel and the regions we visit, travel can be unpredictable. The information on our website is a general guide to the tour and region, and any mention of specific destinations or wildlife is by no means a guarantee that they will be visited or encountered. Additionally, any travel times listed are approximations only and subject to vary due to local circumstances.

      Details

      Important

Before you decide to travel with GEEO, it is important that you read all of the program information on this page. Our programs are quite adventurous, and we find that travelers who review the full trip details are happier with their experiences.

      Trip Notes & Expectations

      ACCOMMODATION

Our program fees are based on double-occupancy accommodation (see "Single Travelers" below if you do not have a travel companion and would be interested in a private room). Our accommodations are chosen to provide a safe, conveniently located place to sleep. While you may be pleasantly surprised, please don't expect luxury, as we prioritize keeping our programs affordable.

      TRANSPORTATION

We use a mix of transportation that gets our guests from location to location safely. Sometimes you will have full days and nights of transportation as our trips tend to cover a lot of ground. The transportation will often be an adventure in itself.

      LUGGAGE

Pack light and bring luggage which is compact and lightweight, and which you can easily transport. The carrying of your luggage remains your responsibility at all times.

      ACTIVITY LEVEL & PACE

This trip should be appropriate for most travelers. There is light walking and hiking suitable for most fitness levels and nothing too challenging. Many of our programs occur in locations where it is very hot during the day. Please make sure you have thoroughly read the itinerary and can handle the group activities, which sometime include day hikes with your daypacks. We recommend always carrying snacks with you. Meals can sometimes be far apart.

      ILLEGAL DRUGS

Illegal drugs will not be tolerated on any trips. Possessing or using drugs not only contravenes the laws of the land but also puts the rest of the group at risk. Smoking marijuana and opium is a part of local culture in some parts of the world but is not acceptable for our travelers. Our philosophy of travel is one of respect towards everyone we encounter and in particular the local people who make the world the special place it is. The exploitation of people in the sex trade is completely contrary to this philosophy. Our tour leaders have the right to expel any member of the group if drugs are found in their possession or if they utilize the services of paid sex workers, in any capacity.

      GROUP LEADER

All GEEO/G Adventures trips are led by a Chief Experience Officer (CEO), whose role is to take the hassle out of travel and help you get the most from your trip. They’ll share information about the places you visit, suggest activities and restaurants, and introduce you to our local friends. While not traditional guides, CEOs have broad knowledge of the region’s history, culture, and daily life. On some excursions, local guides are used for deeper insight—giving you the best of both worlds.

      Packing List
See our blog post of staff recommended gear to help you pack for your upcoming travels. You must be able to carry your own luggage—up stairs, on and off of transport, and during 15 to 20 minute walks. Bring one small or medium backpack or rolling bag (22-30lb) and one daypack for daily items. Space is limited on transportation, so oversized bags cannot travel. As you prepare your packing list, we recommend checking average weather conditions for your destination on a site like Weather Spark for the time of year you will be traveling.

      Passports and Visas
Travelers are responsible for securing all required travel documents and meeting the entry requirements for every country on their itinerary, including applicable transit/layover countries.  PASSPORT  All travelers must have a passport valid for at least 6 months beyond your trip dates with enough blank pages for stamps. Need to apply or renew? Start here. ENTRY/VISA REQUIREMENTS  Visa rules change frequently—always verify the latest requirements on the U.S. State Department Country Information Pages. Non-U.S. passport holders should verify requirements with your country's official government resources. Use the tool below to see entry requirements for your specific itinerary.  Entry information below is provided by Sherpa, a third-party service and trusted G Adventures partner. You must search each of your destination countries separately; “Add connection” solely searches transit visa requirements. Additional fees apply if you choose to purchase any services through Sherpa.
      Money Exchange
Currency: The local currency in Indonesia is the rupiah (IDR). For current exchange rates, visit www.xe.com. Credit/Debit Cards: Credit cards (especially Visa and Mastercard) are accepted at many hotels, shops, and restaurants, but not everywhere. Some vendors may also charge an international transaction fee, so check with your bank before you travel. Cash: For small purchases, tipping, or places that don’t take cards, we recommend using ATMs to withdraw local currency while traveling. If you bring U.S. dollars to exchange, the bills must be new, unmarked, and in excellent condition—damaged or older notes are often rejected. Emergency Funds: Bring at least $200 USD (or the equivalent in local currency) in cash for emergencies in case of ATM or card issues. Always carry more rather than less to avoid feeling short of funds while traveling. See the Estimated Trip Costs section at the bottom of this page for budgeting guidance. For more advice, see our post, Smart Travel Finances: Your Guide to Money, ATMs, Fees, and Safety Abroad
      Tipping
Tipping is optional but appreciated and goes a long way for the people who look after you on the trip. If you are happy with the service, use these ballpark amounts and adjust as you see fit: - Service providers/Waiters: 10% of the bill. - Local guides and drivers: $1.50-3.50 USD per person per day. - G Adventures tour leader (CEO): $20-25 USD per person per week. (We suggest pooling contributions in an envelope and presenting it as a group) Tipping Kitty: On some trips, your CEO may suggest a “tipping kitty” where everyone contributes at the start of the tour, and the CEO uses that pooled amount to tip service providers for the group as a whole (not including your CEO). If your CEO doesn’t mention it and you’d like to use a kitty, we recommend asking about it early in the trip. Your CEO will advise the suggested amount and preferred currency for the kitty.
      Vaccinations
GEEO cannot provide any medical advice, so it is very important to consult your doctor or a travel clinic about which vaccinations you will need for your trip. We recommend contacting Passport Health, which has travel clinics located throughout the United States. You can also check the CDC's recommended vaccinations for your destination. Please take this seriously!
      Flights
Wait for official trip confirmation via email from GEEO before booking your flights. Prices tend to be lowest 90–120 days out, but that window varies by route and year. Neither GEEO nor G Adventures bear responsibility for any flights purchased before the trip is confirmed. You will fly into Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport (DPS) for this program. Please double-check our itinerary for the date by which you must arrive in Seminyak, which is about a 20-minute drive from Bali Ngurah Rai International Airport. You can arrive at any time you choose, but try to make it in time for our 6:00 p.m. Welcome Meeting on Day 1. You may want to arrive in Bali one or more days early in case you have flight disruptions. Your trip ends in Labuan Bajo and the nearest airport is Komodo International Airport (LBJ). You can depart Labuan Bajo any time on the final day of the program, or stay longer to see more of the area.
      Plugs and Converters
Indonesia uses Type C and Type F plugs and the voltage is 230V. To use your electronics safely, you’ll need to consider: 1. Adapter (plug shape) Adapts your U.S. plug to fit another type of socket. See our recommended all-in-one travel adapter in our Gear Recommendations post. 2. Converter / transformer (voltage) Steps the outlet voltage down to 120V for U.S. appliances that can’t handle higher voltage. How to know which you need: Look at the fine print on the plug or power brick. An “Input 100-240 V” means the device is dual-voltage and works worldwide with only an adapter—phones, laptops, and most camera chargers fall into this category. If the label shows “Input 120 V” (hair dryers, curling irons, some shavers), it could be damaged on high voltage. Pack both an adapter and a travel voltage converter. Converters are inexpensive and sold online or in the travel aisle of many stores.
      Weather
Bali and the Lesser Sunda Islands are only eight degrees north of the equator and have a tropical climate. The high temperatures don't change much through the year, although the Indonesian islands do have a distinct wet season that is brought in by the western monsoon from late October to April. July is in the dry season, and while you'll probably still see some rain, it is usually in short showers that leave fresh blue skies behind. Bali’s center is dominated by high mountains where you'll experience cooler temperatures and more rain. Things are warmer and drier the further away from the mountains you are, and you'll be warmest on the coast.
