GEEO programs are typically open to educators and their guests aged 18 or over, but we also offer special family programs for those who want to travel with their children (typically ages 6 and over). We believe teachers should be able to continue to have rewarding international travel experiences and adventures even after starting a family. We also want to help you introduce your kids to other cultures through travel experiences that broaden their horizons and enhance what they have already learned in school.
You can see our current family trips here. We are currently offering a Bali family program from June 28–July 14, 2024, and a Vietnam and Cambodia family program from July 6-22, 2024. The minimum age on these programs is 7 years old. We are also offering a Galápagos family program from June 9–17, 2024, with a minimum age of 15 years old.
We add new family programs when a family contacts us and expresses interest in traveling together to a particular destination. If you are interested in traveling with your family to a specific destination, please reach out to us at travel@geeo.org. We may be able to adapt a scheduled trip on our programs list to accommodate families, provided that all currently registered participants are amenable to the change. Alternatively, we can create a new trip for your family over the dates that work for you and then offer it on our website to other families and individual travelers. You can also ask us to receive notifications about new family programs as soon as they become available.
Our partner tour operator, G Adventures, also offers Family trips that are specifically designed for families. Their family tours include age-appropriate activities and hotels that know how to cater to families. GEEO can book your family on one of these G Adventures Family trips — in which case, you may travel with families from all over the world — or we can create a GEEO teacher family program for you using the G Adventures itinerary that you prefer. If your children are at least 12 years or older, we can also send your family on essentially any G Adventures trip. Either way, you will have access to GEEO’s dedicated customer service (7 days a week, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Eastern Time), discounted pricing, free curriculum, professional development certificates, optional graduate credit, access to humanitarian rate airfare (certain locations) and discounted travel health insurance, and many other services to make the process affordable, enjoyable, and easy for your entire family.
