Teacher Travel: Take a G Adventures Trip for Less with GEEO

Love G Adventures trips? So do we—and as their official partner for teacher travel, GEEO helps teachers save when booking those same amazing trips.

We’re a non-profit organization that works closely with G Adventures to make global travel more accessible for educators. If you’re a teacher, you can book G Adventures itineraries through us and receive a special educator discount. Same trips, same itineraries—just at a lower cost when booked through GEEO, and with all the great benefits of traveling through our organization.

The mission is simple: help educators gain firsthand global experiences that they can bring back to the classroom. By offering discounts on G Adventures trips, we help teachers explore new cultures, landscapes, and histories—enriching both their own lives and their students’ learning.

Whether you’re snorkeling in the Galapagos, exploring ancient cities in Europe, or discovering jungle-clad ruins in Cambodia, traveling with GEEO and G Adventures means you’ll return home not only refreshed, but also with real-world stories, insights, and inspiration to share with your students.

So, if you’re looking to join a public G Adventures departure at a discount or want to travel with a group of fellow teachers, GEEO has options that help you see the world—and bring those experiences back to your classroom.

Wait, What’s GEEO?

GEEO (Global Exploration for Educators Organization) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that partners with G Adventures to offer the same incredible small-group trips at a discount.

That means if you’re a teacher, you’ve got two options with GEEO.

  1. You can book your G Adventures trip through GEEO and receive more personal customer service, classroom resources, and we can apply a promo code to travel with one of their groups.
  2. You can book a spot on one of GEEO’s programs, which are made up entirely of educators, retired teachers, and their non-educator guests, but use the exact same itineraries as G Adventures trips, with the same guides and hotels.

Here’s the beautiful thing, no matter which option you choose, you will never pay more to book through GEEO! That’s right, if you’re an educator there is only a plus side to booking through GEEO; same great trips, only at a discounted rate.

Personal Support from a Small Team, Global Reach from a Travel Giant

When you travel with G Adventures through GEEO on their tours or ours, you’re getting the best of both worlds. Behind the scenes, G Adventures—one of the largest and most respected small-group tour operators in the world—handles the on-the-ground logistics: expert local guides, thoughtfully designed itineraries, seamless transportation, and unforgettable experiences.

But before you even set foot on a plane, you’ll be working directly with the GEEO team—a small, mission-driven nonprofit dedicated to making travel accessible and enriching for educators. That means personalized customer service, quick email responses, no hold time on phone calls, and real humans who genuinely care about your travel experience.

We know how busy teachers are, and how valuable your time and money is. So we make it easy. Whether you have questions about a destination, need help selecting the right trip, or want to understand how PD credit works in your state, our small but mighty team is here to help every step of the way.

You’re not just a booking number with us—you’re part of a passionate educator community, supported by a team that’s walked in your shoes. And once you’re on the ground, you can travel with confidence knowing you’re backed by the world-class infrastructure and experience of G Adventures.

Earn Professional Development Credit at No Cost

With GEEO, you can turn your adventure into real professional growth. GEEO has designed a thoughtful educational system to make sure teachers—and their students—get meaningful value from these trips.

Our programming is built with input from experienced educators across grade levels, from elementary to graduate education. That means you’re not just sightseeing—you’re engaging in purposeful, globally-minded learning you can bring back to your classroom.

And yes, you can earn Professional Development (PD) credit along the way.

At the end of your trip, GEEO awards all participants a PD certificate at no additional cost. Since professional development requirements vary by state, the exact number of hours or credits may depend on your local guidelines—but GEEO’s documentation is designed to help you apply the experience toward your continuing education or in-service requirements.

You also have the option of earning graduate credit while you travel! Our $600 3-credit course through Southern New Hampshire University is available on all GEEO programs and G Adventures trips booked through GEEO.

So whether you’re climbing a volcano in Indonesia or exploring Berlin’s Christmas markets, you’re also investing in your professional growth—no extra homework required (unless you opt to take the graduate course).

Discounted Travel Insurance for Teachers

When you’re planning an international adventure, travel insurance isn’t just a box to check—it’s a smart investment, and it’s mandatory when traveling with G Adventures. At GEEO, we want to make the entire travel experience easier and more affordable for educators, and that includes helping you secure reliable travel insurance at a discounted rate.

We partner with a provider that specializes in coverage for educational, volunteer, and nonprofit travel. While you’re free to use any insurance provider, we recommend our partner because their plans are both affordable and comprehensive—perfect for teachers traveling abroad.

These affordable insurance plans are only available to people who travel with specific groups and organizations, and GEEO is one of those organizations! It is a great perk of booking a trip with us, and it’s just one more way we help educators explore the world more affordably and with peace of mind.

Travel with a Community That Gets You

One of the most rewarding parts of a GEEO trip is the people you travel with. If you choose to travel on one of GEEO’s programs, you’re not just exploring new countries, you’re doing it alongside fellow teachers, professors, and education professionals who share your curiosity, values, and love of learning.

Whether you’re swapping lesson plan ideas over dinner in Rome or reflecting on cultural insights while hiking in Argentina, you’re building real connections with people who understand the joys and challenges of teaching. Many of our travelers come home not only with unforgettable memories, but also with new friends, collaborators, and even future travel buddies.

You’ll be part of a ready-made community—people who know the grind of grading, the thrill of student breakthroughs, and the value of stepping out into the world for fresh perspectives. And because GEEO’s trips are scheduled during school breaks, these are friends you’ll be able to travel with again and again.

Who’s Eligible?

If you work in education, there’s a good chance you’re already eligible to book your next trip through GEEO. On both GEEO programs and G Adventures trips, we work with travelers from a wide range of professionals in the education field—from Pre-school to Graduate school, including teachers, college professors, school counselors, principals, administrators, paraprofessionals, and even those currently working toward their teaching certification. Retired educators are welcome, too—your classroom experience is just as valuable on the road!

Our traveler community is made up of educators from all over the U.S. and beyond, representing every grade level and a wide range of ages and backgrounds. Whether you’re a first-year teacher or a seasoned pro with decades of experience, you’ll be in good company. About half of our participants join solo, and we make it easy to feel comfortable.

GEEO also welcomes non-educator friends or family members to join you on your journey. The only requirements are that participants must be at least 18 years old (unless it’s a designated family program) and in suitable physical condition for the itinerary they’ve chosen.

Trips fill up on a first-come, first-served basis, and new itineraries are announced throughout the year—so if you’re considering joining us, it’s a good idea to hop on our mailing list or reach out directly.
