Sri Lanka Research Unit for First-Grade Informative Writing

Action Plan

My intention is to use it as a research unit for informative writing unit integrating Social Studies and Science to learn about climate, a wildlife, habitat, culture and food.

Pre-Departure Preparation

We began researching before the trip, so students made predictions about what they thought the climate and animal life was based on what they learned.

Preparation During Travel

I plan on sending postcards to each student to confirm or deny their predictions about what they thought the country would be like. In the future, I will use photos and artifacts to increase the quality of learning about Sri Lanka.
