Action Plan
I teach ELA and Social Studies. This school year I will be teaching about Africa. I want to teach my students about the culture, religions, history, and geography of Africa. I will show the students the artifacts that I will bring back such as clothing, arts and crafts, and foodstuffs to further enhance their learning. I will also have pictures, stories, and literature from the region that I will be able to create lesson plans around.
Pre-Departure Preparation
I will research the culture, social norms, religions, tribal groupings, and history of Tanzania before leaving on the trip. I will also study the animal species as well as the biological geography of the Serengeti. To further prepare myself for my trip and action plan I will also study the physical and political geography of Eastern Africa.
Preparation During Travel
I will tour the historical sites while taking pictures and gathering literature about the sites. I will talk with the Maasai people about their culture and lifeways. I will listen attentively during the tour of the Serengeti to learn more about the biological and physical geography of the region.
