Contributor :

Barbara Summey

Action Plan

I am a university Supervisor at Mass Global and CSU Bakersfield. I am also a part of Los Angeles County Office of Education Art and Social Emotional Learning community program through Luna Arts. My classroom/ community goal is to bring the arts, culture, and to develop imperative concern for animal life around the globe. Using elements of art and design and visual thinking routines through project zero. Students will learn the different print design using watercolor pencils and paint and create collages of endangered or threatened flora and fauna. IN addition they will be introduces to the ” Music of Tanzania” and the artists of the 21 century.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I will research the different trusts in the area dedicated to saving wildlife. I will familiarize myself with the local art work of Tanzania making sure to focus on fabric prints and their meaning.. I will make sure I have an organized drop box for a visual journey of the trip. I am learning basic Swahili for the trip out of respect for Tanzanian people.

Preparation During Travel

I will schedule extra tours to visit foundations dedicated to saving wildlife. I will talk to locals and partake in the food. . I will buy small art artifacts from the regions.
