I will participate in all that I can, and I will seek opportunities to interact with locals and observe all that I can about folk music, dance, storytelling, textiles, crafts, and general architectural design. I will journal, take photographs and videos, and I will make an effort to ask all of my guides as many questions as I can.
As part of our 3rd grade Social Studies, we study Geography and Countries of the World. Every grade level also zooms in on a particular continent, and the 3rd grade focuses on Africa. On my trip to Morocco, I plan to research the Arts - from folk music and dance, to storytelling, textiles, crafts, and general architectural design. I will observe artisans with the hope of learning about handmade carpets, ceramics, mosaics, fabrics, etc. I will also teach my students about Morocco's geographic location and how general cultural influences throughout history influenced the Arts (and possibly food) found within the country.
