Learning About The Hmong People

Contributor :

Kate Van Haren

Action Plan

I will take pictures and view cultural sites so I can share similarities between the traditional practices of the Hmong and Eastern European cultures.

Pre-Departure Preparation

In my Fourth and and Fifth Grade classrooms, I teach multi-week lessons on immigration to the United States and Wisconsin Culture. I am traveling to Southeast Asia, to learn more about the Hmong culture.I will use this information to present a more comprehensive unit on a large immigrant group to Wisconsin.

Preparation During Travel

I am reading and conducting my own research on Wisconsin Hmong culture. II have contacted the University of Wisconsin Madison culture center to see if they any classroom resources available to me.
