I will visit brick and mortar bookstores to ask about and purchase well known Irish literature for children, collect all maps from places we visit, take photos, and possibly visit an elementary school we may come across. If possible, it would be fun to find a primary classroom to Skype with in September of 2019.
My goal is to give my first grade students a glimpse of the world, one country at a time, beginning with Ireland. We will compare traditions and holidays, use literature to help understand diverse cultures, and use the maps from the Ireland trip to support our learning of basic map skills.
I will be researching children's literature that represents Irish culture and Irish history in accurate and developmentally appropriate ways.
