Ancient Greek Democracy and Greek Drama

Contributor :

Action Plan

I will take careful notes from local guides about the features of the democratic government. I will plan on visiting the Roman Agora, the Acropolis, the Parthenon, and Constitution Square to see and learn from the places democracy began. I will also inquire as to how democracy functioned throughout the country outside of Athens as I travel to the different cities.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I teach AP Government and I am excited to show my students the birthplace of democracy. I will compare and contrast the differences in the style and type of democracy the Greeks originally established vs. how democracy works in the US today. As an English teacher, I look forward to including the elements established by Greek drama and the allusions to Greek Gods in the literature we read.

Preparation During Travel

I will created a graphic organizer to utilize for comparing and contrasting the democratic differences, and I will read the historical development of Greece democracy.
