I will take many photos of the works that I see and ask questions about their religious purposes. I will make sure not to offend but will try to determine if the art still retains its original religious function or if it has lost that meaning and has become more of a novelty for tourists. I hope to purchase some works and examples to bring back to my class.
I am an art teacher and I plan to expose all classes in grades 5-8 to a specific aspect of Tibetan art, discussing the religious function and any secular changes that have recently occurred that may change the meaning of the art. Images from my trip will be used with all grade levels and the students will create original art works inspired by the Tibetan art.
I will familiarize myself with the religious art that I will see in Tibet.
