I will document my trip both with writings on what I’ve seen and learned, but also with photographs to bring back for my students.
I am designing a new history elective on the Silk Road, past and present and hope to offer it in the Fall of 2019. I expect it will include the experience of the peoples along the Silk Road, but also the ways in which modern geopolitics may be recreating it. I anticipate a study of religion, art, and the transmission of science to augment the historical narrative.
I will continue to read widely on history and current issues in the -stans.
