Moroccan Geometry

Contributor :

LASHAY MAMUYA

Action Plan

I will videotape my GEEO experience for inspiration, collect copies of literature and information I documented from my experience and collect photographs, data and other any other artifacts to teach my students to model with mathematics, a key Standard for Mathematical Practice.

Pre-Departure Preparation

My two main goals are: 1.To document the history of traditional patterns and examine the principles of geometric design found in works of art and architecture in Morocco. 2. To deepen and develop my understanding of symbolism found throughout Morocco. My students will design geometric motifs using complex shapes and patterns, and compare and contrast Islamic architecture with contemporary design using knowledge of Geometry.

Preparation During Travel

I will research current buildings in Morocco known for its strong architecture and other places such as museums and mosques known for showcasing geometric designs in Islamic art.
