Interdisciplinary Galapagos Unit

Contributor :

Jodi Shapiro

Action Plan

During the trip I will be taking many pictures and videos, collecting brochures and purchasing books for my curriculum when I can find them. Also, I will be posting on my blog as often as possible so the students can follow me and share my learning and excitement while I am there.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I will be creating an interdisciplinary unit about the Galapagos, the theory of evolution and Charles Darwin. I will use nonfiction books and writing activities for literacy, the theory of evolution, the variety of animals and their adaptations and the vegetation for science, and the history of Charles Darwin, the Galapagos Islands and the geography for social studies. This unit will be approx. 4-6 weeks long. The students will do a culminating project showing the rest of the school all the information that they learned.

Preparation During Travel

I will be creating a blog so my students can follow me while I am touring Quito and the Galapagos Islands.
