Geography in a Box

Contributor :

Maddie Hunt

Action Plan

Make sure to seek out and find different maps or geography tools to bring back to the class. In addition, I will be doing a photo documentation of all of the different places the maps correspond with so the students have a larger learning context.

Pre-Departure Preparation

Part of the 4th grade standards that are taught have to do with geography and global connections. As part of my travel, I will be collecting different types of maps and artifacts to include in a “Geography in a Box” activity. This will allow students to explore and read different map features. In addition, I have kept in contact with all of my previous GEEO guides and my students write letters and correspond with the guides to get a better understanding of different ways of life.

Preparation During Travel

I will look at our itinerary to see what different kinds of maps I will be looking to acquire.
