I will take pictures, collect pamphlets, websites, and other relevant artifacts that will support the lessons I teach when I return.
Pre-Departure Preparation
Many of my students with ASD love animals. I will make a simple book about the Galapagos with pictures I have taken and information that would capture the interest of the students I work with and give it to their teachers to use as a free time choice or otherwise. I will offer to teach a lesson if they are interested as well.
I will also teach a lesson to the Spanish class and Biology class at my school sharing my experiences and information relevant to the class standards.
Preparation During Travel
I will collaborate with the Spanish and Biology teachers to see what information and artifacts they would like me to gather while in Ecuador, so I can be prepared to teach a lesson that fits into their curriculum when I return.
