In order to build background knowledge as we read the book together, I would like to show students pictures of places mentioned in the book. I will photograph these places as well as collect items from each place (tickets/brochures/etc.) so that they can see and experience those places in order to have a richer understanding of the setting.
I teach a Reading class as well as multiple sections of Freshmen English. A goal of mine is to include more world literature, and I will begin by gathering literature from India/Nepal. I would also like to find a mentor text set in India to use with my lower level readers.
I will research grade-appropriate books set in India and read several to find a good fit for my students.
