I will explore, collect information and photograph various landmarks and scenery for inspiration for writing.
I teach an elective course titled "Introduction to Poetry Writing". One poet is spotlighted each week. Students learn about the life and times, and poetry of each poet. Students create their own poetry that has been inspired by each poet. Twenty poems are written by the beginning of May of the school year. Thereafter, each student compiles their poetry into a final chapbook. Ahmed Rami and Abdel Rahman el-Abnudi and the poets/writers I plan to research while in Egypt. I plan to bring artifacts back to the classroom.
