Demographic Data in Vietnam and Cambodia

Action Plan

I am going to collect ideas of the demographic categories that my students might choose to explore in regards to Vietnam and/or Cambodia.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I am currently developing a Statistics Unit on identity. In the past, we have looked at various censuses from throughout the world and my classes explore how research/data is collected on demographics in various regions of the world. I would like to incorporate both what I see and learn in Vietnam and Cambodia with teaching students about the changing socio-economic demographics of Vietnam (and how data is used in a communist nation) as well as the Kingdom of Cambodia. I am also interested in looking at the changing socio-economic demographics of Cambodian populations that are affected by climate change.

Preparation During Travel

I am going to do a little research on the current structures for data collection in Vietnam and Cambodia and how that affects public services.
