While traveling through India I would like to find examples of rangoli art. I want to select simple geometric designs and colors that speak of the Indian culture and traditions. I am thinking that communicating with people such as the local guides could be a great help with this project.
My goal is to have students learn about the culture of India through the visual folk art form of Rangoli. Students will focus on the elements and principles of art to create a geometric design type rangoli. Once the projects are complete I would like to display them in the library and have a feature article in the school newsletter.
I will continue to research information about geometric designs for my students. I will look for rangoli project ideas to use in the classroom. Geometric designs, materials and methods will be my area of interest.
