I will try to locate local newspapers in English (if they exist) and also local newspapers in Arabic. I will also ask at Al Jazeera if there are sources I can bring back for my students. During the trip, I will try to engage with as many local people as possible to talk about current issues and their take on those issues.
I will create a research project in which students will research a current event/issue in Oman or Qatar and create a presentation about the issue. Students will examine multiple sources in order to present different perspectives on the issue. They will examine news sources from the chosen country, from the US, and international news sources.
I will research current events in Qatar and Oman and identify the most pertinent local issues in each country.
