Action Plan

Be an active participant in learning the culture around me, as it pertains to views on education and medicine. Visiting local schools or clinics while on a city tour or during free time would be beneficial.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I am a 9th grade English teacher at a Career and Tech Academy. The students I teach have all chosen to go into education and medical fields. In their professions, they will need to learn to be culturally sensitive and able to interact with many different people. I will create a research-narrative essay assignment in which students must select a foreign destination to visit, and write about their interactions with the culture there (as it pertains to the medical or education fields).

Preparation During Travel

Create a list of cultural and societal aspects to research and observe while abroad.
