Darwin’s Finches

Contributor :

Lisa Manzi

Action Plan

I will ask questions of leaders as well as locals. I will gather photos, and any additional information.

Pre-Departure Preparation

I am a 5th grade teacher, and in science I will include what we learn about the Darwin’s finches (and other species) as students study how the variations in characteristics among individuals within the same species may provide advantages to these individuals in their survival and reproduction. I will also include what I learn about human impact, and the efforts of local communities to protect the local ecosystems. We also study the energy cycle of plants and animals, physical and behavioral adaptations for survival, so I plan to include some of the species we learn about.

Preparation During Travel

I am rereading The Beak of the Finch.
