Cindy Beecher

Program Director

Cindy joins GEEO with a decade of experience in international education and nonprofit management. A strong believer in the power of global education from the start, Cindy studied abroad in five different countries as an undergraduate student, earning her degree in Spanish education and English as a second language. After graduating, Cindy taught English in South America and Europe and also taught Spanish at her alma mater, Missouri State University. A few years later, Cindy transitioned from the classroom to the nonprofit world, working for educational travel organizations as well as for a local United Way. She is currently pursuing a Master of Nonprofit & Civic Leadership and has traveled to 20 countries (and counting!) on her own personal travels and with students and teachers. Outside of working for GEEO and attending grad school, Cindy loves to find adventure both at home in the Ozark mountains and around the world with her husband Josh and rescue dog Aspen.

Jesse Weisz

Founder and Executive Director

Jesse founded GEEO in 2007 to share his passion for traveling with America’s teachers. Jesse discovered the wonders of travel during high school when he made two trips to Europe as a member of the US National Ultimate Frisbee team. Later Jesse studied film in Sydney and landed a three-month all expenses paid trip to Asia to shoot stills and video for an Australian tour company. From there Jesse was hooked on travel and has visited over 80 countries.

In 2003, Jesse started his own new business development consulting company for European advertising agencies. In 2006 he cut back his consulting hours to start GEEO. In September of 2010 GEEO received funding, hiring Jesse to work full time for a job he had been doing as an unpaid volunteer for the previous four years.
